New funding opportunities are coming

2022. March 16.

In the agricultural sector, new support opportunities are constantly coming up, which are worth watching out for and, if the opportunity arises, taking advantage of.
We’ve put together a round-up of the latest applications in this post.

Another tender opportunity for livestock farmers: the government supports the development of animal farms

István Nagy was among those who spoke at the press conference announcing the livestock farmers’ development tender, but he was also joined by Janusz Wojciechowski, the European Commissioner for Agriculture.
The latter stressed that the opportunities created in recent years have contributed greatly to the sense of achievement with which Hungarian sectors have managed to catch up after decades of lagging behind.
He said that the livestock sector is now at a stage where it can show excellent results not only at home but also on the international market.
István Nagy stressed that from 28 February, farmers will be able to apply again for the development of livestock farms, which will provide non-repayable aid.
On average, the amount of aid can range from HUF 5 million to HUF 100 million, but in some cases it can be up to HUF 2 billion.
István Nagy added that in 2020, the government had thought that HUF 360 billion would be enough to cover the application, but due to the high interest, many more people applied than the government had expected: in total, around HUF 5.5 billion (€5.5 billion) or more than HUF 5.5 billion (€5.5 billion) could be allocated to the scheme.
473 billion forints.
According to the Agriculture Minister, market forces and consumer demands are constantly changing, which requires companies to be able to develop.
He also added that, as last year, the same conditions apply to applications this year.
István Nagy pointed out that poultry, pig, sheep, cattle, bee-keepers and many other livestock farmers can also apply for this aid.
The main rule is that a 50% subsidy can be claimed for setting up a new livestock holding or modernising a holding.
Janusz Wojciechowski said it was very important that farmers were properly supported and encouraged not only to set up new animal holdings but also to modernise existing ones.
He said it was reassuring to know that the farm was in safe hands and that the quality of food supply was secure.

Forestry tenders also reintroduced

Good news for farmers, foresters and landowners is that the Development of Forest Genetic Resources (VP4-15.2.1.2-17) and Restoration of Forest Damage to Forestry Potential (VP5-8.4.1-16) are available again. Among other things, you can apply for support for afforestation, prevention of forest damage, forest-environment payments, creation of agro-forestry systems, development of forest resources and many other areas.
Each of the two schemes has different elements, which are worth understanding in more detail, particularly in terms of what has changed compared to previous schemes. Development of forest genetic resources (VP4-15.2.1.2-17): the aim of the funding is to protect and maintain existing genetic diversity as a basis for long-term adaptation and evolutionary potential, and to create new genetic resources of forest tree species by protecting existing genetic reserves and conserving Hungarian genetic resources.
The amendments, which differ from the previous ones, now include the need for government consent among the “missing eligibility criteria” (most public or central budget bodies can only submit a grant application with prior government consent).
The conditions for submitting payment applications have also changed.
Multiple payment requests may be submitted for one statement of support, up to one per campaign. Restoration of forest damage due to forestry potential (VP5-8.4.1-16): The aim of the aid is to restore the management potential of forests destroyed by forest fires or other natural disasters (including climate change-related) and disasters. In the ‘Undertaking of commitments’ section, the certification requirements for forest reproductive material are supplemented by the following: ‘The applicant shall carry out the first export and subsequent mixing and replacement to prove the origin of the forest reproductive material. The certificate of reproductive material shall clearly and unambiguously state in which part of the forest, to what extent and for what purpose the reproductive material has been used and for how long.” According to the amendment, the annex to the call for proposals can no longer be supplemented, nor can clarification questions or oral consultations be used. If you wish to apply for the above grants, we recommend that you re-read the published material in detail, as the conditions have generally been tightened. If you do not submit your application on time, or if you omit parts of it that are required, you could lose the money you have applied for.
