The use of Güttler rollers results in a fine-grained soil structure at the bottom and a more coarse, deeply compacted soil structure at the top. The resulting excellent seedbed structure helps to retain soil moisture and also results in better seedbed establishment and consequently a more vigorous plant population.

A further characteristic feature of Güttler cylinders is the cylinder gap consisting of prismatic tips. Thanks to the surface design, there are 305 of these aggressive, pointed prismatic peaks for every square metre of soil. They are also subjected to a weight of around 400 kg per metre, allowing even the hardest soil clods to collapse.
